Bronchoscopic Assessment of Radiologically Detected Lung Lesion

Background: Radiologically detected lung lesions are very common in regular clinical practice. It is important to diagnose radiologically early. Flexible fiber-optic bronchoscopy an excellent minimally invasive and safe investigation for early diagnosis of diseases. Methods: Data were collected using a semi-structured questionnaire from the patients who had lesion on chest x-ray that not peripheral part advised bronchoscopy. Patients followed up after getting their histopathology. Statistical analysis SPSS16.0 was carried out thereafter. Results: Mean age respondents 56.8 years with ranging 25 85 years. 82% male. Male-female ratio 4.5:1. Endobronchial growth found maximum 46% during bronchoscopy, by 22% showing inflammatory lesion. In 20% patients, findings showed normal 12% inconclusive results. subsequent biopsy histopathology, 55.88% non-neoplastic Among 26.47% non-specific inflammation.20.58% tuberculosis, 5.88% sarcoidosis 2.94% aspergilloma. 35.29% cases neoplastic lesion, results, results inadequate sample. 58.33% squamous cell carcinoma, 25% adenocarcinoma, 8.33% small carcinoma mixed type carcinoma. Conclusion: Fiberoptic can be successfully employed diseases, including malignancies granulomatous lesions.It extremely useful finding specific etiologies various J MEDICINE 2023; 24(2): 106-111
